I woke up excited this morning. Actually, really bloody excited.
There is that particular kind of excitement that sits somewhere between anticipation and a little bit of nervous energy.
The kind where you open your eyes and immediately remember:
Ohhhhhh… today is the day.
Except this morning, I have two very good reasons to be excited.
The first is that I am about to head to Sydney with my love to watch The Lion King live on stage. And honestly, the timing could not be more perfect, because while I am about to be sitting in a theatre watching lions come to life, the symbolic Lion’s Gate is reaching its peak.
Coincidence?
Probably.
Cosmic choreography?
Maybe.
A very entertaining little story I’ve decided to tell myself?
Potentially.
I’m perfectly happy with all three.
There will be an entire blog dedicated to The Lion King experience because there is simply far too much symbolism, storytelling, identity, courage, belonging, grief, love, leadership, the circle of life and remembering who you are wrapped up in that story for me not to have a few things to say about it.
So stay tuned for that one.
For now, I am keeping my energy with the Lion’s Gate.
Because today is the 8th day of the 8th month.
8/8/2026.
When we reduce the date numerologically:
8 + 8 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 26.
2 + 6 = 8.
Today we have a delicious little 8/8/8 situation.
If you are someone who enjoys numerology, symbolism, astrology, synchronicity and the delicious possibility that perhaps there is more going on beneath the surface of ordinary life…well…this is your day.
Perhaps you are reading this thinking, Hang on Hannah, I don’t know anything about numerology, astrology or energetic portals.
Maybe you havenever heard of the Lion’s Gate before.
Maybe the words manifestation and portal make you want to roll your eyes or perhaps you’re simply curious and have no idea what you believe yet.
This blog is for you too.
You don’t need to understand astrology.
You don’t need to know your birth chart.
You don’t need to know your human design.
You don’t need to have a favourite crystal sitting on your bedside table.
You don’t need to believe in portals, manifestation or the energetic significance of 8/8.
You can simply come with a curious mind and take from this what resonates.
Keep reading if you wish.
Take what feels interesting.
Question anything that doesn’t.
Leave the bits that aren’t for you.
There is no spiritual pop quiz at the end. 😂
Perhaps today is simply an invitation to become a little more curious about the possibility that there may be more to life than what we can immediately see, measure and explain.
If nothing else, perhaps you will walk away with eight slightly ridiculous things to say out loud today…which, frankly, feels like a pretty good use of your time.
First things first: what do you actually believe?
Before we get too deep into portals and stars and manifestation, let’s address the elephant — or perhaps the lion — in the room.
You get to decide.
You get to decide whether astrology is ancient wisdom or elaborate storytelling.
You get to decide whether energetic portals are meaningful thresholds or very clever spiritual marketing.
You get to decide whether manifestation is a genuine energetic practice, a psychological phenomenon, a combination of focused attention and aligned action…or a load of absolute bollocks.
You get to decide whether 8/8 is simply a date on the calendar…or whether you want to use it as a symbolic invitation to pause, reflect, dream and consciously choose what you’re stepping towards.
You get to decide if astrology and portals are marketing myths or manifesting miracles. That is actually one of the most important things I want to say.
You don’t need to believe everything I believe.
You don’t even need to believe what you believed six months ago.
Curiosity is allowed and welcomed.
Changing your mind is allowed and a natural part of life.
Being spiritually curious without swallowing everything whole is allowed.
You can hold a little scepticism in one hand and a little wonder in the other.
I actually think this is a rather healthy place to live.
I’m not interested in convincing you that August 8 is some scientifically proven energetic doorway through which abundance will come charging if you say the right affirmation three times while standing barefoot under a full moon.
That’s not what I’m talking about.
I am interested in meaning.
I am interested in ritual.
I am interested in the stories we tell ourselves.
I am interested in the way our attention changes what we notice.
I am interested in what happens when we deliberately choose a moment to stop, reflect and ask:
What am I available for now?
If a symbolic portal helps you do that?Wonderful.
Walk through it.
Why the number 8?
Let’s start with the obvious.
8.
Turn it sideways and it becomes the symbol for infinity.
∞
That alone gives the number a rather delicious quality. Infinity.
No beginning.
No ending.
An endless loop.
A continuous flow.
In numerology, 8 is often associated with themes of abundance, power, achievement, material prosperity, balance, authority and manifestation.
For me, though, the word I keep coming back to is possibility.
Infinite abundance.
Infinite blessings.
Limitless possibility.
Not because I believe we live in some magical universe where we can simply think something hard enough and it will appear, but because so many of us unconsciously make our lives incredibly small.
We decide what is realistic before we’ve even allowed ourselves to imagine what is possible.
We make the decision based on our current circumstances.
Our bank account.
Our age.
Our relationship status.
Our past.
Our family history.
Our previous failures.
Our perceived limitations.
Our fear.
We call that being realistic.
Sometimes realism is wisdom and sometimes realism is simply fear wearing sensible shoes.
I rather like the reminder of infinity.
Not everything is possible in exactly the way you want it.
But perhaps more is possible than you have allowed yourself to consider.
Now, this is where things get particularly interesting as it is time to explore the ancient story behind the modern portal because the Lion’s Gate Portal itself is a modern spiritual concept.
There isnt an ancient Egyptian festival called the Lion’s Gate.
There isn’t an ancient Egyptian text sitting in a museum saying: On the eighth day of the eighth month, everyone gather around and manifest abundance.
Wouldn’t that be convenient?
The modern Lion’s Gate story does draw inspiration from something much older. Something genuinely ancient. Sirius.
Sirius is the brightest star in the night sky and thousands of years ago, ancient Egyptians closely watched the annual appearance of Sirius in the dawn sky.
Its heliacal rising (its first visible appearance shortly before sunrise after a period when it had been hidden by the Sun’s glare) was connected with the seasonal rhythm of the Nile.
The Nile was everything.
The Nile meant life.
Water.
Food.
Transport.
Fertile soil.
Agriculture.
Civilisation.
Renewal.
The annual flooding of the Nile deposited fertile silt onto the surrounding land, helping sustain Egyptian agriculture and shaping the rhythm of life along the river.
Imagine being part of a civilisation that watches the heavens not simply because the stars are pretty…but because the sky is telling you something about the earth.
The stars are part of your calendar.
The river is part of your calendar.
The seasons are part of your calendar.
The heavens and the earth aren’t separate systems.
They are intimately connected.
Sirius became associated with Sopdet, a goddess connected with fertility, the inundation and renewal.
This is where I think the ancient symbolism is genuinely beautiful.
A star appears.
The river rises.
The land is renewed.
A new agricultural cycle begins.
The old gives way to the new.
That is a very different kind of manifestation.
Not I want a new car.
But the conditions for life are returning.
I was on the Nile last year…which makes this part of the story feel particularly personal.
There is something deeply humbling about standing beside that river and realising how much of human history has unfolded around it.
You can read about the Nile.
You can see photographs.
You can watch documentaries.
You can learn about ancient Egypt in school.
Standing beside it is something totally different.
You feel the scale of it.
The age of it.
The movement of it.
Most importantly, you feel how profoundly human beings have always depended on forces larger than themselves.
The river.
The seasons.
The sun.
The stars.
The cycles of nature.
Standing there, I found myself thinking about how ancient people would have looked to the sky and recognised patterns that mattered deeply to their survival.
There was no weather app.
No satellite.
No Google Calendar notification saying Congratulations! The Nile is about to enter its annual cycle.
They watched.
They noticed.
They remembered.
They passed knowledge down.
They understood that life moves in cycles.
That is something I think we have become rather disconnected from.
We want everything to be linear.
Progress.
More.
Faster.
Bigger.
Better.
Next.
Nature doesn’t work like that.
Nature expands, contracts, rests, dies, regenerates, returns and begins again.
This is one of the deeper invitations hidden inside the symbolism of the Lion’s Gate.
Renewal.
Not becoming someone completely new but returning to something that has always been within you.
Where does the Lion come from?
Now we get to Leo.
The Lion comes from Leo season.
Leo is represented by the lion and is traditionally associated with courage, heart, creativity, visibility, confidence, leadership and self-expression.
Modern Lion’s Gate spirituality brings together the symbolism of:
Sirius
The ancient star associated with renewal and the Nile cycle.
Leo
The lion, courage, heart and solar symbolism.
8/8
The numerological symbolism of infinity, abundance and possibility.
Together, these ingredients became what we now call the Lion’s Gate Portal.
Here is the bit I find fascinating.
Sirius doesn’t simply rise on August 8 everywhere around the world.
Its heliacal rising varies according to location, latitude, atmospheric conditions and historical era.
So if you are wondering: “Hang on Hannah, if this is about Sirius, why August 8?”
Excellent question, because August 8 is largely a modern symbolic date.
The lion comes from Leo.
The 8/8 comes from numerology.
Sirius provides the ancient astronomical inspiration.
Modern spirituality has woven those strands together into a powerful symbolic story.
Which means the Lion’s Gate is not an ancient Egyptian tradition that has been passed down unchanged for thousands of years.
It is a modern spiritual interpretation inspired by much older astronomical and astrological traditions.
Honestly I don’t think that makes it less interesting.
It makes it more interesting because it reminds us that humans have always created meaning.
We have always looked at the sky and told stories.
We have always used symbols to mark transitions.
We have always searched for patterns.
We have always looked for signs.
We have always wondered what does this mean?
And now for my favourite part.
Because if we are going to embrace the symbolic energy of the day, we may as well have a little fun with it.
Here are eight slightly strange things I want you to say out loud today.
Yes that’s right not out loud.
Not just in your head because some beliefs sound very different when you actually hear yourself saying them.
Some of them might make you cringe.
Good.
That’s probably where the interesting stuff starts.
They might sound ridiculous.
That’s partly why they work.
Not because the words are magic but because they interrupt the usual script.
They make you hear yourself speaking from a different possibility.
1. “It already happened. I’m just waiting on the papers.”
I love this one because it completely changes the tense.
Most manifestation language is future-focused.
I hope it happens.
One day it will happen.
I’m waiting for it to happen.
Beneath that language can be a subtle message: It isn’t here yet.
If you are constantly rehearsing not yet, you can become very good at living in not yet.
It already happened. I’m just waiting on the papers.
Obviously, I’m not suggesting you pretend something has happened when it hasn’t.
All I am suggesting you experiment with what happens when you stop making waiting your identity.
The waiting stops feeling like proof that it isn’t coming.
You can acknowledge It isn’t physically here yet, while simultaneously allowing I am available for it to arrive.
There is a difference.
One keeps you braced.
The other keeps you open.
2. “I am allowed to have this.”
This one might be the most important because most people don’t have a wanting problem.
They have a permission problem.
They know what they want.
They just don’t believe they are allowed to have it.
Allowed to earn more.
Allowed to be loved deeply.
Allowed to be successful.
Allowed to be visible.
Allowed to take up space.
Allowed to have a slower life.
Allowed to have more pleasure.
Allowed to have beautiful things.
Allowed to be supported.
Allowed to be chosen.
Allowed to be wildly happy.
Allowed to stop proving themselves.
Say out loud:
I am allowed to have this.
Then notice what happens in your body.
Do you soften? Or do you immediately start producing evidence for why you aren’t?
But…
That’s unrealistic.
Who do you think you are?
People like me don’t…
Ah.
There she is.
The permission problem.
3. “Thank you for the money I am about to receive.”
This one might feel particularly uncomfortable if you were raised to believe that money must be approached with caution, anxiety or scarcity.
Take a moment to consider what happens when you practise gratitude before the thing arrives.
Not because you are pretending.
Because you are training yourself to experience receiving without immediately bracing for its absence.
Thank you for the money I am about to receive.
Notice how different that feels from:
I hope I can afford this.
What if there isn’t enough?
What if it doesn’t work?
What if something goes wrong?
Many of us have become experts at preparing ourselves for disappointment.
We brace before the money arrives.
Brace before the opportunity arrives.
Brace before the relationship deepens.
Brace before the good news.
Sometimes the invitation isn’t to become delusional.
It’s simply to stop rehearsing catastrophe.
4. “I’m not lucky. I am early.”
This one is for anyone who has ever looked at the life of someone else and thought:
Why them?
Why did they get the opportunity?
Why did they find the relationship?
Why did their business take off?
Why did their book become successful?
Why did they get there first?
Envy can be uncomfortable, but sometimes envy is simply bad timing misread as unfairness.
Someone else being further along doesn’t mean you are behind.
The arrive of someone else doesn’t mean you have missed yours.
Maybe you are not late.
Maybe you are early.
Maybe the thing you think you are missing simply hasn’t reached the right point in its cycle yet.
I’m not lucky. I am early.
Perhaps you can let someone else’s success become evidence of possibility rather than evidence of your own inadequacy.
5. “This is the least I will ever have.”
This one sounds like complaining.
I actually think it can be deeply grateful because you don’t have to despise what you have in order to desire more.
This is the least I will ever have.
This moment.
This version of my life.
This chapter.
This level of awareness.
This amount of courage.
This amount of freedom.
This amount of love.
This amount of money.
This amount of possibility.
It doesn’t mean:
What I have isn’t enough.
It means I am grateful for what I have, and I am still available for expansion.
Gratitude and desire can coexist.
Contentment and ambition can coexist.
You can love your life and still want it to grow.
6. “I forgive myself for how long it took.”
Oh, this one.
This one is tender.
Sometimes we are not actually waiting for the thing.
We are waiting to stop punishing ourselves for how long it took to get there.
How long it took to leave.
How long it took to trust ourselves.
How long it took to understand.
How long it took to choose differently.
How long it took to stop abandoning ourselves.
How long it took to believe we deserved more.
How long it took to begin.
I forgive myself for how long it took.
Shame is a terrible place from which to create.
Shame keeps looking backwards.
Forgiveness turns your body towards the future.
You don’t need to keep punishing the version of you who didn’t know what you know now.
She was working with the information she had.
She was surviving.
She was learning.
She was becoming.
Perhaps she deserves a little more tenderness than you have been giving her.
7. “I don’t need to know how.”
Ohhhh.
This one is for the planners.
The strategists.
The overthinkers.
The women who would quite like the universe to provide a 47-page implementation document before they agree to trust anything.
I see you, because wanting to know how is understandable.
We want certainty.
We want guarantees.
We want the map.
Sometimes demanding to know exactly how something will happen is how we talk ourselves out of the possibility that it could happen at all.
I don’t need to know how.
I need to know what is mine to do.
What action is available today?
What conversation needs to happen?
What door can I knock on?
What boundary needs to be held?
What sensational standard is ready to be set?
What opportunity can I say yes to?
What version of me am I being invited to become?
The mechanism doesn’t always need to be visible before the movement begins.
8. “I am the person this happens to.”
This one is deliciously audacious.
Maybe even a little arrogant.
Say it anyway.
I am the person this happens to.
Not People like me don’t get that.
Not That’s for other people.
Not Maybe one day.
Not I’m probably being unrealistic.
I am the person this happens to.
I’m not suggesting you need to walk around believing you are cosmically entitled to everything you want.
I am talking about identity.
Because if you fundamentally believe: That kind of life isn’t for someone like me…you will unconsciously behave in ways that keep proving yourself right.
So perhaps the invitation is to become someone who can say:
Why not me?
Why not now?
Why not this?
Why not more?
Why not a life I haven’t yet imagined?
This is where I want to bring us back to the most important deeper principle I want you to take away from this entire blog.
Timing.
In astrology, timing is everything.
The planets are constantly moving.
The sky is constantly changing.
Different planetary configurations are interpreted as carrying different symbolic qualities.
Astrology has traditionally been used not only to ask what is happening?
but: When is the auspicious time to act?
That idea fascinates me.
We have become obsessed with asking What should I do?
when the more ideal question might sometimes be When should I do it?
There is a time to plant.
A time to nurture.
A time to prune.
A time to rest.
A time to harvest.
A time to leap.
A time to wait.
A time to speak.
A time to listen.
A time to begin.
A time to finish.
A time to release.
A time to receive.
Excellent timing depends upon paying attention.
Reading the landscape.
Reading the conditions.
Reading the sky.
Choosing your timing with intention.
That doesn’t mean surrendering your agency and waiting for the planets to give you permission.
Quite the opposite.
It means becoming more conscious about when you move.
And then there is the Fire Horse… Apparently 2026 wasn’t content with simply being 2026.
We are also in the Year of the Fire Horse.
As a brilliant being who was born in the Year of the Horse…well…of course I have feelings about this. 😂
The Horse carries symbolism of movement, independence, freedom, vitality and momentum.
Add Fire to the mix and the symbolism becomes even more potent:
Heat.
Passion.
Drive.
Purpose.
Movement.
Intensity.
Forward momentum.
The desire to break out of the paddock and bloody well run.
That is exactly what this year is inviting us into.
Not frantic movement.
Not running simply because we’re terrified of standing still.
Unstoppable forward momentum in the direction of what matters.
Movement with purpose.
Movement with heart.
Movement with awareness.
Movement that comes from:
I know who I am.
I know what matters.
I know what I am no longer available for.
I know what I desire and deserve.
I am willing to move towards what is calling me.
I loop back to the query I posed in the blog title… marketing myth or manifesting miracle?
Here’s the thing.
I genuinely don’t know and I am okay with that.
Maybe the Lion’s Gate is an energetic portal.
Maybe it’s a modern spiritual framework built from beautiful fragments of ancient astronomy, astrology and numerology.
Maybe it’s a marketing phenomenon that became popular because humans love a meaningful date.
Maybe it’s all of those things.
Maybe it doesn’t matter.
What matters to me is what you do with the moment.
What if you use today to pause?
What if you use today to acknowledge how far you have come?
What if you forgive yourself for how long it took?
What if you stop assuming you’re behind?
What if you give yourself permission to want what you want?
What if you stop demanding to know exactly how it will happen?
What if you allow yourself to imagine that your life could expand in ways you haven’t yet considered?
What if you take one aligned action?
Send the email.
Make the call.
Apply for the thing.
Have the conversation.
Raise the price.
Book the trip.
Start the project.
Rest.
Leave.
Begin.
Receive.
Say yes.
Say no.
Whatever your next step is…take it intentionally.
Maybe the portal isn’t something opening above us.
Maybe it is something opening within us.
A moment where we stop living entirely from the evidence of our past…and become available for the possibility of our future.
A moment where we stop asking:
What has always happened to people like me?
and begin asking:
What could happen now?
A moment where we stop confusing our history with our destiny.
A moment where we remember that timing is not always linear.
That life has seasons.
That we can be both grateful for what is and hungry for what is next.
That someone else’s success isn’t evidence of our failure.
That we don’t need to know the entire pathway before taking the next step.
That perhaps we are allowed to become the person who expects good things to happen.
Today, I choose possibility.
So here I am.
On 8/8/2026.
The eighth day of the eighth month.
An 8/8/8 numerological date.
At the height of the modern peak of the Lion’s Gate story.
In a Fire Horse year.
On my way to Sydney with my love to sit in a theatre and watch The Lion King.
You honestly couldn’t write the symbolism if you tried, perhaps that is why I’m so bloody excited.
Life doesn’t always need to be taken so seriously.
We can be discerning and mystical.
Grounded and magical.
Sceptical and curious.
Wise and wildly hopeful.
We can question the story while still enjoying the story.
We can acknowledge that August 8 isn’t a universally synchronised astronomical event while still using August 8 as a meaningful personal threshold.
We can understand that the Lion’s Gate is modern while respecting the ancient traditions that inspired parts of its symbolism.
We can know that Sirius is a star and still let it remind us of renewal.
We can know that 8 is a number and still let it remind us of infinity.
We can know that manifestation isn’t a substitute for action and still allow ourselves to dream.
Maybe manifestation isn’t about sitting on the couch waiting for the universe to deliver.
Maybe it’s about becoming so clear about what you are available for that your choices begin to change.
Your behaviour changes.
Your standards change.
Your boundaries change.
Your attention changes.
Your actions change.
And eventually…your life changes.
Today, on this strange, symbolic, slightly ridiculous, potentially magical 8/8…say the things.
Say them out loud.
Even if you feel silly. Especially if you feel silly.
It already happened. I’m just waiting on the papers.
I am allowed to have this.
Thank you for the money I am about to receive.
I’m not lucky. I’m early.
This is the least I will ever have.
I forgive myself for how long it took.
I don’t need to know how.
I am the person this happens to.
And then…do something about it.
The real, symbolic, psychological or otherwise portal doesn’t need you to sit around waiting.
It needs you to walk.
Walk through the doorway.
Take the next step.
Choose differently.
Trust your timing.
Follow what feels alive.
Let the old version of you retire from the job of deciding what is possible.
Allow yourself to become available for a life that might be far bigger than the one you have been trained to expect.
Perhaps the most powerful manifestation isn’t: I want this.
It is: I am ready to become the person who can receive it.
That is the real Lion’s Gate.
Not something happening to us.
Something awakening within us.
So…
marketing myth or manifesting miracle?
You decide.
I know I will be over here choosing infinite possibility.
∞
And now, if you’ll excuse me…
I’ve got a Lion King to go and see.
Stay tuned for that blog.
Because something tells me Simba, the circle of life and a theatre full of lions and other magnificent animals, are going to give me plenty to write about.
With wild and untamed love,
Hannah x
